Embossed Baby Card

Happy Thursday folks!  Thanks for dropping by!  Today I made this quick and simple baby card.  Isn’t it just the sweetest?  I adore making baby cards, the colours, stamps, dies, I LOVE LOVE all things with a baby theme.  Anyway I started off with a 6 x 6 (14.8 x 14.8cm – metric size) card base, then trimmed down a front panel to 14.2cm x 14.2cm. You will see I used the polka dot embossing folder on this panel but thought it was best to die cut the card with the love heart first as sometimes die cuts can leave an embossed imprint all around the edge of your cardstock.  I then went ahead and die cut this cute little baby-gro from Clearly Besotted using my BigShot and white embossed it with the co-ordinating stamp outline for the baby-gro and a stamp from Stampin’ Up Made with Love set.

I then took a piece of pink twine and sellotaped it to the back of the heart space of the front panel so its left dangling at this stage.  Next I adhered the front panel to my main card base using double sided foam tape just to give the card a bit of dimension.  Now I could put foam pieces on the back of the the baby-gro so it was securely stuck down so it wouldn’t swing about anymore! Above the heart I adhered a pink glitter star with a glue dot…looks like a fairy wand, perfect for a girl!!!

All I had to do to finish off the front of the card was to put the name of the baby underneath the heart.  I always think it’s nice to put the name on baby cards as it’s such a gorgeous keepsake for the new parents as they could even place inside a frame and have it hanging in the nursery. Alternatively you could always put a different sentiment in place if you wish, such as ‘Congratulations’.  The alphabet dies I used here are the Quinn ABCs from Lawn Fawn.  But I wasn’t finished with it just yet….don’t you always think that something more could be added to the card to finish it off but you think what if I mess it all up and have to start again (nightmare!!).  Well I hummed and hayed…..so there it is, I added some Diamond Stickles to the white space around the baby-gro and I was pleased that I did because for me it finished it off perfectly.

Now to add a sentiment to the inside of the card.  Using my stamping platform from Tim Holtz (which I absolutely adore and woudn’t be without) I used these stamps from the Big News set from Stampin’ Up.  I always think the ‘your little baby is BIG NEWS’  cries out for a little colour so I went ahead and matched up the perfect shade of a Copic marker (R83).  Voila!

Hope you enjoyed learning how to put this card together, it really is a quick and simple card to make.  Please feel free to leave any comments, I would love to hear from you.

Hugs, Karen x
